Hi, I'm Justin aka DJ HappyGusto!
I began my journey as a DJ in 1999, entertaining at private events. Subsequently, from 2004 to 2010, I expanded my scope by performing in bars and nightclubs in Quebec and Montréal. As a pioneer in incorporating music videos on screen, I gradually built an impressive audio-video library, spanning almost every musical genre.
During this period, I also took part in various corporate events, experiencing a unique atmosphere distinct from bar nights. It was in 2011 that I made the decision to focus on offering my DJ services for diverse occasions such as weddings, office parties, corporate events, casinos, galas, cocktails, product launches, show premieres, beach parties, and more.
Then my family and I left Montréal in 2020 and moved to the fantastic city of Calgary...
It wasn't until 2023 that I was able to rekindle one of my lifelong passions: creating unforgettable memories for people through music.
Why did I choose HappyGusto as my DJ name
When I was a kid, before I turned 10, my dad used to call me “Gusto” for reasons I never quite understood. Fast forward to the late ’90s, when I was just starting out as a DJ, I was brainstorming for a unique stage name. One winter evening, the nickname “Gusto” resurfaced from my memory. Curious, I typed “Gusto” into a web search and found that in English, it means “hearty or keen enjoyment.” It was a perfect match for my DJ identity – spinning joyful, well-known, and uplifting music!
But “Gusto” alone didn’t feel complete. I wanted a name that captured the essence of what I aim to bring to every set: happiness and positive vibes. That’s when the idea of adding “Happy” to “Gusto” came to me. And just like that, DJ HappyGusto was born!
To me, DJ HappyGusto signifies a DJ who spreads happiness and joy through his mixes. Someone who loves creating a light, positive atmosphere, and who cherishes ending nights with laughter and hugs!
